West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a major overhaul of the state's educational curriculum to comprehensively include the life and revolutionary contribution of freedom fighter Shaheed Khudiram Bose. Speaking in Mohbani, Keshpur, on the occasion of Khudiram Bose's martyrdom day, the Chief Minister directed the education department to ensure his biography is taught across all academic tiers, spanning from primary and secondary levels up to undergraduate and postgraduate university curricula.
Critical of previous textbook representations that limited Khudiram Bose’s history to brief four-line summaries, Chief Minister Adhikari emphasized that a short paragraph is insufficient to teach future generations about the revolutionary's sacrifice. He pointed out that while previous political regimes prioritized political movements like Singur in school textbooks, the historical contributions of Medinipur’s freedom fighters were largely overlooked. The revised curriculum will feature detailed chapters dedicated to the legacy and patriotism of the young martyr.
Alongside the academic announcements, the Chief Minister allocated an initial grant of ₹5 crore for the renovation and development of Khudiram Bose’s ancestral birthplace under the Mohbani Development Board. The initiative aims to transform Keshpur into a center honoring historical legacy rather than political conflict. Chief Minister Adhikari reached the venue in Keshpur by road after his helicopter made a precautionary emergency landing at Kolaghat due to inclement weather.
