The West Bengal government has formally associated itself with the Central government's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. Addressing a press conference at the Nabanna Sabhaghar on Thursday, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the state will conduct a comprehensive week-long program from August 9 to 17. As part of the statewide campaign, approximately 70 lakh national tricolors are being distributed across Bengal to encourage widespread public participation.
The official itinerary will kick off with a 'Tiranga Yatra' originating from the Chief Minister's constituency of Bhawanipur, marching from the Survey Building to Hazra. Chief Minister Adhikari urged citizens, educational institutions, municipalities, and voluntary organizations across all subdivisions and blocks to take an active part in the campaign. In addition to public rallies, major historical structures and educational centers throughout Kolkata and the districts will be illuminated as part of the festivities.
Furthermore, a massive state-sponsored procession featuring various government departments and thousands of public applicants is scheduled to take place on August 10 from the foot of Netaji’s statue. The Chief Minister stated that the initiative aims to celebrate the country's Independence Day on a grand scale, integrating awareness drives, art competitions, and widespread publicity across print, digital, and social media platforms.
