Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has questioned actors Vivek Oberoi and R Madhavan for residing in Dubai while publicly praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance. Speaking at a student wing event in Mumbai, Thackeray criticized celebrities who endorse the Central government's progress while choosing to live abroad with their families, alleging that thousands of industrialists are also leaving the country.
In response to the criticism, Madhavan previously noted that he relocated to Dubai to support his son's swimming career, while Oberoi moved to start a business venture. During his address, Thackeray also alleged that actors return to India primarily for government-sponsored film projects before heading back overseas.
Addressing the recent abusive language directed at PM Modi during student protests at Jantar Mantar, Thackeray agreed with the Prime Minister's call to forgive young protesters. However, he urged the BJP to restrain its own supporters, stating that online troll teams associated with the ruling party frequently target prominent figures and political opponents with derogatory language.
