India added two more gold medals to its Commonwealth Games campaign on Saturday as boxer Jaismine Lamboria and para-athlete Soman Rana emerged victorious in their respective events. Lamboria won the women's 57kg boxing title after defeating reigning champion Michaela Walsh by a unanimous 5-0 decision, while Rana claimed gold in the men's shot put F57 event with a season-best throw of 13.40m. India also secured a silver medal in the same shot put event through Shubham Juyal, who recorded a season-best effort of 13.28m.
In the women's 57kg boxing final, Lamboria edged the opening round with cleaner punches before taking complete control in the second round through accurate scoring shots. She maintained her composure in the final round to register a unanimous victory over Walsh. The triumph gave India its second boxing gold of the Commonwealth Games after Preeti Pawar's earlier success in the women's 54kg category. Following the result, both finalists embraced in the ring in a display of sportsmanship.
India also dominated the men's shot put F57 final by securing the top two positions. Rana improved from his opening throw of 13.38m to a season-best 13.40m in the second round, which proved enough for the gold medal. After a foul in his third attempt, he followed up with throws of 13.14m, 13.17m and 13.11m. Juyal produced a season-best 13.28m with his final attempt to clinch silver, while Cameroon's Cedric Idriss Lekezo Azamdzi took bronze with a season-best throw of 12.57m.
