A tragic incident aboard a local train between Titwala and Vasind railway stations has left a 55-year-old passenger dead, stirring outrage and condemnation across Mumbai. Dattatray Bhoir, a farmer from Sajivali village in Shahapur taluka, succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal attack by two assailants wielding a knife and a belt. The assault, sparked by a misunderstanding, occurred on April 28 but gained widespread attention following the circulation of a disturbing video depicting the altercation on social media.

In the four-minute video, a man in a maroon shirt is captured savagely assaulting another individual dressed in white, as chaos ensues in the train compartment. Bhoir, accompanied by his friend Pradeep Shirose and two others, was returning home after attending a friend’s Haldi ceremony in Ulhasnagar when the altercation unfolded. Despite efforts to save him, Bhoir's condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his demise on Thursday. The attackers, identified as Amol Pardeshi, 40, and Tanji Kumar Jammuwal, 21, attempted to flee after the train reached Vasind station but were apprehended by police following swift action by Shirose.
