Since the announcement of Lok Sabha elections on March 16, the Election Commission of India has received 200 complaints regarding violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), with 169 of them resolved within the first month. Notably, the highest number of complaints, totaling 59, were filed by the Congress party, followed closely by 51 complaints from the BJP. The Commission emphasized its proactive approach in swiftly addressing complaints to ensure a fair electoral process, stating that it took necessary actions to maintain a level-playing field and uphold the integrity of campaign discourse.

The Election Commission expressed overall satisfaction with the compliance of political parties with the MCC, with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and other ECs monitoring pending cases of alleged violations daily. Specific instances of action included notices issued to leaders of various parties for derogatory remarks, such as BJP leader Dilip Ghosh's comments against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Congress leaders Supriya Shrinate and Randeep Singh Surjewala's remarks against BJP candidates.

Additionally, directives were issued to government bodies, including the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Central Board of Direct Taxes, based on complaints from political parties. Furthermore, the Commission highlighted the effectiveness of its c-Vigil portal, which received over 2,68,000 complaints, aiding in curbing illegal campaigning activities and ensuring prompt resolution of reported violations.
