In a move towards inclusivity, the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to cater to the needs of specially-abled fans with the introduction of a sign language feed and descriptive commentary. Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the T20 league, announced its collaboration with India Signing Hands (ISH News) to curate customized commentary tailored for the deaf, hard-of-hearing, and visually-impaired audiences.

The initiative, aimed at enhancing accessibility, will provide ball-by-ball updates using Indian sign language, ensuring engagement for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Additionally, the commentary will include regular verbal score updates to accommodate visually-impaired fans. Star Sports highlighted the significance of this initiative, emphasizing its role in engaging specially-abled fans by narrating every moment of the game alongside score updates.

The 17th edition of the IPL kicks off in Chennai on Friday, featuring a match between the five-time champions and defending title-holders Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This groundbreaking step toward inclusivity reflects the league's commitment to embracing diversity and ensuring that all fans can enjoy the thrill of cricket, regardless of their abilities.
