Calcutta High Court, presided over by Justice Debanshu Basak and Justice Mohammad Sabbir Rashidi, has invalidated the entire 2016 recruitment panel in a corruption case. This decision has immediate repercussions, leading to the sudden loss of jobs for 25,753 individuals in Bengal. Among this substantial number, 5,000 individuals are under suspicion of involvement in rigging, further complicating the aftermath of the court's ruling.

The High Court's decision came after repeated requests for separate lists of eligible and ineligible candidates from both the state government and the SSC, none of which were furnished. Siddharth Majumdar, the Chairman of the SSC, asserted that the list of ineligible candidates had already been submitted in the form of affidavits containing names and roll numbers. However, the lack of such documentation appears to have played a pivotal role in the court's decision, prompting questions about the transparency and integrity of the recruitment process.
