Actor Dev donates blood before filing nomination, promises to plant tree for every vote
As the countdown to the Lok Sabha elections comes to a close, anticipation mounts for tomorrow's voting, particularly in Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri where polling will be held in the first phase. Notably, Cooch Behar, scarred by violence in past elections, witnesses robust security arrangements with a maximum of 112 central force companies deployed alongside 4500 state police personnel. The District Control and Reception Center (DCRC) at Cooch Behar Polytechnic College stands ready to coordinate polling activities for seven assembly constituencies under the Cooch Behar Lok Sabha seat, as polling personnel begin arriving.
In this four-cornered contest, BJP's Nishith Pramanik, Trinamool's Jagdish Verma Basunia, Forward Bloc's Nitish Chandra Roy, and Congress's Piya Roy Chowdhury vie for victory. Simultaneously, Jalpaiguri prepares for voting, with DCRC centers established at Government Engineering College and University of North Bengal II Campus, facilitating the movement of polling personnel across the constituency's five assembly constituencies. With approximately 1600 vehicles stationed at both centers, polling personnel commence their journey to the booths with EVM boxes, adhering to Election Commission guidelines.
