Prior removal, Kunal praised BJP's Tapas Roy: "worthy candidate"
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) lodged a complaint today against West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose, accusing him of attempting to breach regulations during the silence period preceding the Lok Sabha election. The complaint alleges that the constitutional head of the state was seeking to visit Cooch Behar, violating rules set for maintaining silence before elections.
Governor Ananda Bose had expressed his intent to visit Cooch Behar on April 19, coinciding with the first phase of Lok Sabha Election in the region. However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had advised against the visit on April 17, citing violation of MCC.
In its complaint to the ECI, the ruling party of the state highlighted the Governor's previous plan to visit Cooch Behar on April 18 and 19, which was subsequently canceled following the ECI's intervention, now Governor has renewed interest in visiting Alipurduar on April 18 and 19, another parliamentary constituency scheduled for polling on April 19.
Raj Bhavan sources clarified that the Governor had acknowledged the ECI's request and adjusted his schedule from Cooch Behar to Alipurduar. He is the constitutional head of the state and there are no bars against his visit to anywhere in the state, said a Raj bhavan official.
