Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari led a massive 'Har Ghar Tiranga' rally in Kolkata on Monday, marking West Bengal's official participation in the nationwide campaign for the first time. Carrying the national flag, Adhikari walked a two-and-a-half-kilometer stretch from Gaur Pal Sarani to the Victoria Memorial North Gate. He was accompanied by state ministers and prominent lawmakers, including Arjun Singh, Jagannath Chatterjee, Deepak Barman, Rudranil Ghosh, and Kaustav Bagchi, alongside thousands of citizens participating in the tricolor procession.
Highlighting the event's significance, Chief Minister Adhikari announced that the state government is executing a large-scale program to distribute 70 lakh national flags across West Bengal. He appealed to all residents to participate actively by hoisting the tricolor at their homes during the campaign period running from August 9 to August 17. The procession, which kicked off from his home constituency of Bhowanipore, reflects the state's alignment with central government initiatives under the NDA administration.
Following the march, Adhikari expressed his gratitude to the Information and Culture Department and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for organizing the event, while inviting citizens to the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on Red Road. Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced that the state will officially celebrate the Raksha Bandhan festival to foster social harmony, unity, and progress across West Bengal.
