Bidhannagar East Police Station officers arrested Sub-Inspector Ajmal Haq of Nalhati Police Station from Mumbai in connection with an ongoing investigation. Haq, who is considered a close associate of Birbhum stone businessman Tulu Mondal, was brought in for questioning following his apprehension. The police had previously received a written complaint against him in June regarding an alleged incident involving a young woman at a guest house in Salt Lake's CL Block.
According to police sources, the complaint filed in June accused Haq of taking a young woman from her locality to a guest house in Salt Lake, where she was allegedly assaulted and mistreated. Although Haq had reportedly obtained bail in that specific case, Bidhannagar East Police continued their probe into his activities. During the investigation, police allegedly discovered his close ties with Tulu Mondal and his involvement in various tasks for the stone trader.
Despite the arrest, senior police officials have not yet officially clarified the exact charge or specific case under which Haq was taken into custody from Mumbai. Further questioning is underway to ascertain his role in the reported offenses and his links to the Birbhum-based business network.
