Investigators continue their search for absconding Birbhum stone trader Tulu Mondal, who is suspected of having fled abroad following recent high-profile raids. As part of the ongoing probe into illegal stone and sand trading, police launched a targeted search operation at Tulu's in-laws' residence in Parui, Birbhum. During the raid, officers recovered multiple bags, raising strong suspicions that they may contain concealed cash linked to his illegal network.
Attention has also turned to Tulu’s two brothers-in-law, Shamsul Alam (Mithu) and Nur Alam (Mintu), who expanded their business operations when Tulu gained prominence in the regional stone trade. Originally from the neighboring village of Talipur, the brothers relocated to Parui around 2011–12. Before entering the stone sector, one brother worked as a driver while the other traded rice, making their rapid financial rise a subject of intense scrutiny by investigators.
Today, the brothers operate separate stone depots and command a fleet of around 40 dumpers, many of which bear the label "MSP"—alleged by locals to stand for "Mondal Stone Production." Questions regarding their sudden asset accumulation and business expansion led police to inspect their premises. Authorities are currently examining the recovered bags and investigating whether the brothers' holdings are linked to Tulu's wider financial syndicate.
