A Kolkata Police constable posted at Lalbazar has been accused of making indecent proposals and molesting a domestic worker at a housing complex in New Town. Following a formal complaint, a case was registered against the accused at the Techno City Police Station, and police have issued a notice directing him to appear for questioning.
According to the complainant, a resident of South 24 Parganas who works across multiple flats in the complex, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the constable approached her, claimed his flat was vacant, and offered money for sexual favors. When she refused and tried to walk away, he allegedly blocked her path, grabbed her hand, and attempted to drag her toward an isolated spot before she managed to break free and reach the security guards at the main gate.
After returning home, the victim informed her husband about the ordeal, after which they lodged a complaint at the Techno City Police Station and pointed out the constable's residence to investigators. An official from the Bidhannagar Commissionerate stated that an investigation has been initiated without immediate arrest, and police are currently examining CCTV footage and gathering eyewitness statements to verify the allegations.
