Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi arrested a passenger arriving from Phuket, Thailand, after seizing 2.7 kg of suspected hydroponic weed. The high-potency cannabis variety was found cleverly concealed inside chocolate packets within the passenger's baggage on Sunday.
The interception was carried out based on Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) profiling after the traveler had already cleared the Customs Green Channel. X-ray screening of the individual's luggage flagged suspicious visual patterns, prompting officers to conduct a thorough manual search.
Upon searching the luggage, officials recovered four vacuum-sealed packets containing 2,759 grams of the illicit green substance along with packaging material. The passenger was arrested under Section 43(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and the contraband was seized.
