Police have seized a massive consignment of gold and diamonds valued at crores of rupees at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata. The recovery was made on Thursday morning at the airport’s domestic cargo terminal. Authorities acted swiftly to intercept the precious metals and gemstones just as the consignment was being transferred to a receiver.
Following the operation, law enforcement personnel arrested one individual on the spot in connection with the interception. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and transported to the NSCBI Airport police station for intensive interrogation. Officers are working to verify the documentation associated with the cargo and determine the exact origin of the high-value shipment.
Investigating officers are currently probing the wider network behind the shipment to ascertain whether the consignment is linked to illegal trading or smuggling channels. Authorities are conducting detailed questioning to identify all individuals and entities involved in transporting such a large quantity of gold and diamonds through domestic cargo channels.
