The natural beauty of Elliot Park in Maidan has been fully restored after the Kolkata Municipal Corporation removed the tall tin fences that had enclosed the premises for several years. Installed along Chowringhee Road, the high barriers had previously blocked the public view of the park's greenery and picturesque surroundings. Following an initiative under the new administration, the civic body cleared the obstructions, making the scenic landscape visible to visitors once again.
Taking to social media, Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari expressed gratitude to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for removing the barriers and restoring public access. Adhikari shared "before and after" photographs of the site to highlight the transformation of the park grounds. In his post, he praised the civic authorities for ensuring that the natural open space was returned to the citizens for their enjoyment.
Adhikari noted that the park's greenery had previously been shielded from the public during the tenure of the former government. He stated that public assets and natural spaces belong to the citizens and should remain freely accessible to everyone. With the removal of the perimeter fencing, the park’s scenic views along the Chowringhee Road stretch are now completely open to the general public.
