Vehicular movement on the Mirik-Siliguri main road came to a complete halt after a massive tree fell across the highway following a landslide in the Gayabari forest area. The incident led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road, disrupting traffic along the busy route. Local drivers and residents immediately began efforts to clear the fallen tree while debris removal operations were launched to restore connectivity.
Clearance work is currently underway to remove the tree and landslide debris from the roadway and resume normal traffic movement. The administration has advised motorists to exercise caution while travelling on the Mirik-Siliguri route, warning that commuters may face traffic congestion and significant delays until the road is fully cleared.
