A woman employed at an IT company sustained critical injuries in a road accident at the Webel crossing in Salt Lake Sector-5 on Saturday morning after being hit by an M-14 government bus operating on the Newtown–Behala route. She was initially taken to a nearby hospital but was later referred to NRS Hospital after her condition deteriorated. The injured woman has been identified as Pratiksha Gandha, a resident of Behala who was travelling to Sector-5 for work.
According to the police, the accident occurred when Pratiksha Gandha attempted to cross the road after getting off a bus without following the traffic signal. She was allegedly struck by the approaching government bus, which reportedly ran over one of her legs, causing severe injuries. Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
