The Kolkata Traffic Police has launched a week-long Road Safety Week campaign across the city from August 3 to August 9, 2026, with the objective of promoting adherence to traffic rules, encouraging safe driving practices, and reducing road accidents. As part of the campaign, a bike rally comprising Kolkata Traffic Police sergeants was flagged off from the Seven-Point Crossing at Park Circus. The rally will travel through different parts of the city to spread awareness about road safety. Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nand and several senior Kolkata Police officers were present during the event.
Throughout the week, the Kolkata Traffic Police will conduct a series of public awareness programmes across the city focusing on responsible road use and traffic discipline. The campaign aims to educate motorists, pedestrians, and other road users on the importance of following traffic regulations, adopting safe driving practices, and contributing to safer roads by reducing the risk of accidents.
