More than four dozen hotels have been ordered to shut down following a joint operation by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, police and fire department in the aftermath of the New Market hotel fire. On Saturday, Hotel Crystal was sealed after authorities found that it was allegedly operating illegally under the guise of a residential building plan. Six other guest houses located next to Hotel Crystal were also sealed during the operation.
