A sudden fire broke out on Wednesday morning at a godown of the Ambika Jute Mill in the Bally area of Howrah. Upon receiving the alarm, three fire tenders rushed to the scene to initiate firefighting operations.
Preliminary assessments by fire authorities suggest the blaze may have been triggered by a short circuit in a cutting machine. While an official investigation is underway to establish the exact cause, no casualties or injuries have been reported, and officials worked cautiously to prevent the flames from spreading further.
Fire department officials are investigating electrical connections, fire suppression systems, and safety compliance to check for potential negligence, with formal safety measures and inspections expected following the final probe report.
