In a dramatic turn of events, three FIRs have been registered in connection with the attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers during raids in Sandeshkhali. The FIRs include one filed by the caretaker of Sheikh Shahjahan's house against the ED, another by the local police, and a third by the ED officials themselves.
Late on Friday night, ED officials filed a complaint regarding the attack, accusing Trinamool leader Sheikh Shahjahan of instigating the violence with the intention of harming the officers. The agency alleged that around a thousand people, mobilized by Shahjahan Sheikh, attacked ED officers during a raid related to a ration distribution scam. The complaint includes mobile phone location data suggesting Shahjahan's presence at the scene during the attack.
In an official statement, the ED revealed that three officers suffered serious injuries as the mob aimed to harm them, forcing the remaining officers to abandon the search to ensure their safety. The agency is compiling two sets of reports on the attacks, with plans to submit them to the New Delhi office for further action by Saturday evening.
Meanwhile, the caretaker of Sheikh Shahjahan's house has filed an FIR for breaking the lock of the residence, alleging that the ED team forcefully entered without prior information and a warrant.
