The West Bengal government will launch a dedicated online portal on August 20 to handle grievances and objections related to the Annapurna Scheme. Addressing a thank-you meeting organized by women of North Kolkata at Mahajati Sadan, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that citizens can lodge complaints if ineligible individuals are receiving benefits or if eligible women have not received their ₹3,000 monthly financial support. He assured that strict administrative action will be taken upon verification and that ward-level committees will be formed across 60 wards of North Kolkata to assist beneficiaries.
Highlighting the scale of implementation, the Chief Minister shared that verification of applications submitted till July 10 resulted in financial aid being provided to 76,817 women across seven assembly constituencies in North Kolkata. Statewide coverage expanded rapidly from 28 lakh women in June to 1.19 crore in July, with 1.80 crore applications submitted by July 31. Direct benefit transfers commenced on August 17, following a strict economic sequence to ensure non-discriminatory distribution.
To prevent deprivation and combat atrocities against women, the Chief Minister urged local women to form self-help groups in their respective wards. Funds under the scheme will be credited directly to bank accounts between the 10th and 15th of every month, eliminating the need for beneficiaries to visit government offices. The government reiterated that any eligible woman previously left out can reapply through the newly designated portal to secure her monthly grant.
