The West Bengal Police have initiated strict legal action against individuals allegedly posting offensive and derogatory remarks about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on social media platforms. Following warnings from authorities regarding zero tolerance for such conduct, six FIRs have been registered across the state. Furthermore, one suspect, identified as Kiran Kumar Das from Uttar Dinajpur district, has been arrested for his involvement in making objectionable online comments.
According to Islampur Police Superintendent Rakesh Singh, the arrested individual will be presented before the Islampur Subdistrict Court as police seek custody for further interrogation. Authorities reported that in addition to the arrest, cyber cell officials have successfully removed 108 derogatory posts concerning Netaji from various social media networks. Investigators are currently examining whether the arrested youth acted independently or in coordination with others.
The police action follows official statements clarifying that the law applies equally to all citizens regardless of their political or public status. While offenders have been instructed to delete objectionable posts and issue public apologies, law enforcement officials emphasized that removal of content alone will not grant exemption from legal proceedings.
