The flood situation in Assam is showing signs of gradual improvement, though 15 districts across the state remain inundated according to the latest bulletin from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. A total of 39 revenue circles and 481 villages are currently submerged, impacting districts including Golaghat, Sivasagar, Udalguri, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Nagaon, Darrang, Sonitpur, Hojai, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Jorhat, Charaideo, Karbi Anglong, and Dhemaji. Meanwhile, the overall fatality count from the disaster has risen to 97.
Data indicates that 1,68,701 residents are affected state-wide, alongside the submergence of 14,382.26 hectares of cropland. Sivasagar remains the hardest-hit district with 49,515 impacted individuals, followed by Jorhat with 27,842 and Charaideo with 21,486. Hydraulic observations report that the Dhansiri (South) river at Numaligarh continues to flow above the danger mark, whereas other major rivers across the state are currently remaining below their maximum hazard levels.
In response, state authorities have established 133 facilities, comprising 50 relief camps and 83 relief distribution centers. A total of 10,111 displaced persons are currently taking shelter inside the official camps, while 35,596 individuals outside the camps are receiving essential supplies through distribution points. Local administrations continue to monitor vulnerable areas as relief operations proceed across the affected districts.
