Sensation prevailed at Hooghly railway station after the body of a railway employee was recovered from the tracks at platform number 3. The deceased has been identified as Kamal Senapati, who was serving as a Senior Section Engineer in the Permanent Way department of the railways and had been posted in Hooghly for a considerable duration.
Following the discovery of the body, fellow railway workers assembled at the Bandel Government Railway Police (GRP) station. Colleagues alleged that Senapati had been undergoing severe mental stress for a prolonged period due to pressure from senior officials, suggesting that the mental strain may have driven him to take the extreme step.
The Bandel GRP has recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. While colleagues maintain that official pressure led to the tragedy, police officials stated that the investigation is underway and the cause of death will be confirmed following the receipt of the autopsy report and further inquiry into all angles.
