A Class 3 student was allegedly bitten by a snake inside a washroom at Heritage School in South Kolkata. According to reports, the school authorities provided basic first aid at their medical facility before discharging the young girl and sending her back home. The incident came to light only after her parents spotted bite marks on her leg upon her return and questioned the school's response.
Following the discovery, the child was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Anandpur. Medical professionals examined the victim and confirmed that the snake, described as being around one and a half feet long with yellow spots, was non-venomous. Although doctors confirmed the child is out of danger and currently under observation, the family remains deeply distressed and has raised strong concerns over the school management's handling of the situation.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage and anxiety among parents regarding safety standards at the expansive campus, which also houses a higher educational institution. Students reported having seen snakes near a water body situated outside the school premises previously. The Education Minister has assured that necessary steps will be taken to address the matter, while school authorities have stayed silent on the issue.
