Three NCPI Members of Parliament from Murshidabad—Abu Taher, Khalilur Rahman, and Yusuf Pathan—attended a high-profile breakfast meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their presence dispelled ongoing speculations surrounding their political stance, as all NCPI and Shiv Sena parliamentarians were invited to the interaction. While debates persist regarding the future trajectory of the NCPI and potential merger proposals with the ruling BJP, the three MPs maintained that they remain within the NCPI while actively seeking resolution for key regional and administrative grievances.
Prior to the Prime Minister's meeting, the parliamentarians had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to raise specific public interest demands. During their interaction with PM Modi, the Murshidabad MPs submitted formal representations requesting administrative relief regarding mosque loudspeakers, expedited hearings for individuals omitted from the State Identity Register (SIR), and the construction of a new railway line connecting Krishnanagar to Murshidabad. Due to the breakfast schedule with the Prime Minister, a scheduled 2 PM meeting between Abu Taher, Khalilur Rahman, and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari was postponed.
During the session, Prime Minister Modi advised MPs over the age of 40 to prioritize personal health through regular check-ups and yoga, while encouraging all lawmakers to actively submit development blueprints for their constituencies. In addition, Bankura MP Arup Chakraborty raised a financial concern regarding local development, highlighting that an 18 percent GST deduction from the ₹5 crore MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund reduces funds meant for public welfare projects, and appealed to the Prime Minister for a review of the tax burden.
