Sandeshkhali erupts in violence following elections; section 144 imposed
Trinamool Congress labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "daily passenger," with party leader Shantanu Sen questioning whether Modi would address key issues like MNREGA funds during his two-day visit to Bengal. Sen also raised concerns about the presence of Shubhendu Adhikari, against whom an FIR has been lodged in the Narada case, on Modi's stage.
State Congress President Adhir Ranjan Choudhary ridiculed Modi's Bengal visit, insinuating that elections prompted his sudden interest in the state. Choudhary accused Modi of resorting to false promises, stating, "Modi ji has come to Bengal so that once again he can make false promises to the people of Bengal."
Meanwhile, CPI(M) Secretary Mohd Salim criticized Modi's visit, asserting that Bengal stood to gain nothing from it. Salim highlighted recent increases in the prices of commercial cylinders and predicted a rise in domestic gas costs.
He contrasted this with promises from his own party, pledging to provide domestic gas at Rs 500 if they come to power at the Centre. The comments from various opposition leaders underscore a tense political atmosphere as Bengal braces for upcoming elections, with each party attempting to sway public opinion in their favor.
