A gang of five to six armed robbers looted the bike and other valuables of a sub-inspector at Naugachia in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar. The incident happened late on Thursday evening.
The victim, Sub-Inspector Umashankar Singh, is posted at Naugachia Police Station. He went to Bihpur police station for some official work.
When he was returning at around 9:00 pm, his motorbike was ambushed by highway robbers in Kharik village who stole his bike, cash and two mobile phones at gunpoint. The robbers put a gun to his head and threatened dire consequences if he screamed or disclosed the incidents to anyone.
Sushant Kumar Saroj, SP of Navgachiya said, "There has been a looting incident involving a sub-inspector rank officer in the district. We are trying to identify the accused. Raids are on to nab them."
After the incident, a large number of police forces reached the spot and conducted raids in nearby villages.
