Bihar-based YouTuber Manish Kashyap, who was arrested on March 18 for allegedly circulating fake videos of "migrants being mugged in Tamil Nadu", was remanded to custody of the police in the southern state until March 31 and will be brought before a Madurai court on that date.

Tamil Nadu police were also on the lookout for Manish Kashyap, alias Tripurari Kumar Tiwari, and a Madurai court issued a warrant for his arrest.

Kashyap's lawyer KK Prabhakar said Additional Chief Justice Adi Dev's court in Patna granted transit remand after a Tamil Nadu police officer submitted an affidavit that the accused would be produced before the Madurai court under full security and protection, according to the report. Kashyap's four-day detention in Bihar (Economic Offenses Unit) ended on Monday.

Kashyap, who runs a YouTube channel, surrendered at the Bettiah police station on March 18 after evading arrest for several days after being charged in the case. A police team was in the process of seizing his residence in the same area. Rakesh Ranjan Kumar, a native of Gopalganj district, is accused of shooting a fake video showing "Migrant attacks in Tamil Nadu" at a Patna residence.

As of 2019, Kashyap has been accused of ten crimes in Patna and Bettiah, according to police. In that case, EOU filed three lawsuits against him and others.
