West Bengal has been engulfed in a political tug of war between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the distribution and utilization of funds from the central government.

TMC leader Mamata Banerjee began a two-day dharna (sit-in protest) on Red Road, alleging that the central government has failed to provide the state with its rightful dues. Meanwhile, the BJP staged a protest in Shyambazar, accusing the state government of embezzling funds received from the center.

On Wednesday, Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari made a significant claim, alleging that the central government has imposed an economic embargo on West Bengal due to the state government's alleged involvement in embezzlement of funds meant for the people's welfare.

Responding to the allegations, BJP MP Dilip Ghosh stated that the demands for Dearness Allowance (DA) made by government employees were legitimate, and that the TMC government was neglecting their demands. Ghosh emphasized that the central funds received by the state government needed to be accounted for, as it is the public's money.

The ongoing political battle between the TMC and the BJP over the utilization of central funds has led to a tense atmosphere in the state, with both parties accusing each other of corruption and mismanagement of funds.
